This beautiful OAL Harridge baseball was superbly scripted by the Yankee Clipper on the sweet spot. The slightly off white ball was last produced in 1959 but this ball dates from Joe's playing days. During the years of Harridge heading the American League, three distinct baseballs were produced; this artifact is of the middle sect, circa 1940-1945. The stampings are slightly faded but are completely legible and the ball is free of toning spots. Both the ball and the signature have been graded an "8" by PSA. This item comes with a Letter of Grading and Authenticity from PSA/DNA ("8"), Steve Grad and Zach Rullo as well as a Letter of Authenticity from JSA James Spence Authentication.
There are Joe DiMaggio signatures, rookie era Joe DiMaggio signatures, and then there is this, the earliest Joe D. signature ever seen in the hobby. The person lucky enough to ask the young ballplayer for his autograph inscribed beneath it "right fielder seals team in the same pencil used by Joe. DiMaggio signatures from his S.F. Seals playing days of 1932-1935 are beyond rare and this is the earliest we have ever seen. This item comes encased in a PSA/DNA holder for protection and unquestioned authenticity.
While Joe DiMaggio index cards are not difficult to obtain, finding one with the inscription "N.Y. Yankees" is nearly impossible. The Yankee Clipper signed this index card in blue ink, and as always, very legible. This item comes encased in a PSA/DNA holder for protection and unquestioned authenticity.
